Before the commencement of the tournament, coach Harjinder Singh had said how the Chandigarh Football Academy would start as underdogs in the 11th edition of the Administrator's Challenge All India Football Tournament. The absence of star players had raised doubts over the Chandigarh outfit’s chances of defending the title. On Monday, Chandigarh Football Academy put those doubts aside by producing a stellar performance in their opening match against Gujarat Football Association and whitewashed the visiting team 15-0 in a lop-sided encounter. Mobasher was the star performer for the team as he scored five goals for the team.
Looking to get off to a winning start, Chandigarh Football Academy started on an aggressive note and opened their account through Inder Mohan in the third minute of the play. The Gujarat defenders were yet to recover from the initial jolt when Jatinder scored the team’s second goal in the seventh minute. The Chandigarh players enjoyed superior possession of the ball in the midfield and tested the Gujarat defenders with their quick feet work and exquisite skills.
Mobasher then came alive in front of the goal to grab a superb hattrick. His first goal came in the 22nd minute through a powerful drive. He added another goal to the scoresheet by scoring in the 23rd minute while Mobasher completed his hattrick by finding the back of the net in the 28th minute. The Gujarat defenders were bamboozled by his dazzling skills as Mobasher continued his purple patch in front of the goal. He netted his fourth goal in the 34th minute and fifth in the 44th minute of the play.
Other CFA players- Harpal Singh and Amarjeet Singh- were also on the scoresheet. Harpal netted in the 36th minute while Amarjeet scored in the 40th minute of the play.
CFA were leading 9-0 at half time.
After the breather, the Chandigarh team scored six more goals. The scorers were Ramdin (49th), Harpal (51st, 77th), Harsharan (66th, 71st) and Amarjeet (72nd).
