Chana extended gains for the second straight day with prices rising by 0.61 per cent to Rs 4,265 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions, driven by pick up in demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in December rose by Rs 26, or 0.61 per cent, to Rs 4,265 per quintal with an open interest of 67,450 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in the January contract gained Rs 16, or 0.39 per cent to Rs 4074 per quintal in 89,220 lots.

Market experts said increased buying by speculators, driven by pick up in demand in the spot market mainly kept chana futures remain firm.
