Challaned at naka for speeding, man alleges assault by police

High drama prevailed at an over-speeding naka at Purv Marg Sunday when a resident of Sector 28 was challaned for over-speeding and family members of the man alleged that police inspectors and Sub-Inspectors assaulted them. The police personnel on naka duty said that the person was falsely implicating them as he was challaned for over-speeding and misbehaviour.

As per the police officials the incident took place at 1.40 pm Sunday when the car was stopped at a naka on Purv Marg by the UT traffic police personnel. The car was travelling at the speed of 71 km/h but the family claimed that they were at the speed limit of 40 km/h. However, as the police radar confirmed over speeding the family was challaned. The two men who were in the car with kids and women, Gaurav Goel (32) and Sushil Bansal (35) started arguing with the police personnel.

The two left the naka after an heated argument and came back 30 minutes later when the police personnel were wrapping up the naka. The duo came with more family members and started abusing the police personnel.

Inspector Malkiat Singh, the in-charge of the naka said: “Initially when the two misbehaved with the police personnel, we called PCR about the incident. The PCR vehicle came and we gave them a challan for misbehaving with a policeman on duty. Then they came back and started alleging that we assaulted them.”
