Smartphones have become smarter over the years, but they have not yet been able to get a fix on how to make batteries last as long as they should. Over the past year or so people have been carrying extra power in battery packs that go wherever their devices go. Things could change in the New Year.

US-based mobile device accessories company Lepow International is all set to launch new 2-in-1 magnetic power banks and phone cases at 2014 International CES. Its two new models, Pixels and Pie, feature 3000mAh power capacity with a magnetized connection between the power bank and case. The new cases will be available for Samsung Galaxy S3, Note 2, HTC, and Apple iPhone 5 and iPad Mini.

CEO Jacky Fan says their power bank and phone cases are easily attached using the magnetic plate that is on both of the items. "Additionally, both models come in stylish fashion colors, allowing the user to choose the combination of colors that match his or her style.”

Unlike one-piece smartphone case chargers, these new models allow users to remove the extra battery and reduce weight when needed. The covers come with LED lights that on a shake show how much power is left.

The Lepow ‘Pixels’ and ‘Pie’ power banks and phone cases will be available online for $79.99.
