The Centre has asked West Bengal government to arrange deportation of seven Bangladeshi minors who are languishing in a juvenile home in Murshidabad district even though their detention term ended much ago.

The instruction from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) came after National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) took a serious note of the allegation of illegal detention by the state authorities.

The allegation had come from a human rights organisation, Manabadhikar Surakhha Mancha (MASUM), which complained that by keeping the Bangadeshi boys beyond their detention term, the state authorities have infringed their human rights.

The seven boys — Jamil Husain(16), Hetal Ali (13), Selim Sheikh (17), Abdul Jabbar (17), Anarul Islam (16), Borjahan Ali (17) and Abubakkar Siddiqui (17) had entered India without valid travel documents for which they were booked under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act and some other sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in 2010, 2011 and January 2012.

Jamil, who was arrested in November 2010, is a resident of Nowgaon district of Bangladesh while Hetal and Selim are residents of Nawabgunj districts.

Hetal and Selim were arrested in May and August 2011, respectively.

Abdul, Anarul, Borjahan and Abubakkar hail from Chapai Nawabgunj district of Bangladesh. Abdul and Anarul were arrested in August 2011 while Borjahan and Abubakkar were arrested in November 2011 and January 2012 respectively. All of them had come in India without valid travel document in search of job.
