Launching a scathing attack on the SAD-BJP government in Punjab, Union Minister and Ludhiana MP Manish Tewari on Saturday said all development works are being carried out in the state with central funds while the former was taking “undue credit” for the same.

“All development works in Punjab are being executed with the help of funds provided by the Union government and the state (Punjab) government is taking undue credit for the same,” Tewari, who is the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, told reporters here.

Tewari claimed that the UPA was releasing huge funds for all states under various welfare and development schemes including MGNREGA, SSA, Mid-day Meal Scheme and rural development. “Due to wrong economic policies of the Punjab government, the state was under the burden of Rs 75,000-crore debt,” he said.

He also accused the state government of making false claims of development while the law and order situation has deteriorated and the economic health of the state worsened.
