Hyderabad: : In a move to promote tender coconut water consumption, the Coconut Development Board (CDB) proposes to market tender coconut water in tetrapaks. The board has proposed to outsource packed coconut water from two south-based companies—Jain Agro Products and Shakti Food Agro Products under the brand name ‘Coco Gel’ and ‘Tender Coco’. The packs are available in 200 ml priced at Rs 10 per pack, CDB officials told FE.
To promote sales, the board proposes to undertake promotional campaigns using audio, video and print media.
“We are trying to publicise the potential usages of tender coconut water as it is an undisputed health drink full of vitamins and minerals,” said the official. For marketing purposes, the board is in talks with leading supermarkets and Khadi Village Bhandars to stock and sell the products, added the official.
Both ‘Coco Gel’ and ‘Tender Coco’ packs have seen a big entry in the markets, especially in the north.
Since it contains preservatives, tender coconut water packs can be maintained for six months from the date of manufacture.
