CBI tells I-T to probe Mulayam’s wife and son

The CBI has asked the Income Tax authorities to conduct a probe against Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav’s wife, Sadhna, and younger son, Prateek.

In its communication to the Income Tax department, the CBI said Sadhna and Prateek bought properties valued at beyond their declared income. According to CBI, the properties in their names include a bungalow on MG Road in the cantonment area of Lucknow, two plots in Kamta Village of Lucknow that were reportedly bought for Rs 18 lakh and sold for Rs 2.5 crore, and a plot worth Rs 18 lakh in the Gomti Nagar area of Lucknow. These properties were reportedly acquired between 1998 and 2003.

Last month, the CBI had filed a closure report in the disproportionate assets case against Mulayam, saying there is no evidence against him.
