CBI officer probing 2G scam dies

CBI official Suresh Kumar Palsania, who investigated the 2G spectrum scam, died here late on Wednesday night. A 1996 batch IPS officer from the Orissa cadre, Palsania was suffering from lukaemia and was admitted to a hospital in Saket in New Delhi. He was the chief investigating officer who steered the investigations into the telecommunications scam, which led to the arrest of high-profile politicians and bureaucrats, including former Telecom Minister A Raja.

Hailing from Rajasthan, Palsania was an engineering graduate and was posted as Deputy Inspector General with the CBI. He was a recipient of this year’s Police Medal for meritorious service announced on Republic Day.

It's very likely that he was murdered. Sudden leukaemia and blood infection to a healthy person is doutable. I request Indian express to raise and investigate this issue.

Suspected murder

There are many suspicions that it could be a murder-(1) Sri Palsania was enjoying good health till recently and it was one of the factors for award of President medal to him this year. (2) 2 heaviest cases were entrusted to him-2G scam and CWG scam for his energy and hardworking capacity. (3) Many persons at highest level would like his death -those who are already accused or suspects. (4) He was being treated in a private clinic in stead of being referred to AIIMS. Private clinic is better place for murder by deliberate wrong medicine/poison and records of diagnosis and treatment can be easily fuzzed. (5) His murder has been timed when Director of CBI is away from country, so that no high level conspiracy is subjected. A team of doctors appointed by Director, AIIMS may probe his death. Even if records have been destroyed by his funeral at Jaipur, inquiry will give some feeling of safety to officers investigating cases against persons in power.
