Cartpullers meet Verma, demand space in city
Tiger Singh, a member of the federation, headed the group and apprised the commissioner of the tough situation faced by cartpullers due to the MC’s drive. In the past few months, the MC has removed thousands of illegal carts from the city under the leadership of tehbazaari wing superintendent Naveen Jindal.
Singh told the commissioner that cart owners were facing difficulty as their carts were not allowed to stand in the city. He added that changing the place of the cart everyday led to huge losses for them.
Promising that their request would be paid heed, Verma told them that allowing carts on roads would never be allowed as it was inconvenient for people.
However, the MC is panning to make a separate place for cart owners in the city. The issue took a new turn when on November 22, MC officials demolished the board of New Krishna Mandir and shopkeepers sat on protest. Area councillor Malwinder Singh Makkar abused Jindal, and the matter reached Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria.
