Cartoon Network's ‘Chowder' survey reveals Indian kids love to get busy in the kitchen

New Delhi: Cartoon Network, India’s number one kids’ channel, continues to cook up a storm of original productions with its latest animated comedy series ‘Chowder’ that chronicles the magical misadventures of a young chef’s apprenticeship in the imaginative and magical city of Dakaarpur.

Premiering on July 13, Monday-Thursday at 4:00 p.m. only on Cartoon Network, ‘Chowder’ was trans-created for Indian audiences and features a dash of local flavour to spice up an already high energy show. Ideal for family viewing, ‘Chowder’ is designed to whet the appetite of viewers of all ages – from kids to parents with its colourful combination of imaginative storytelling, phenomenal animations and quirky yet lovable characters.

Celebrating the launch of ‘Chowder’, Cartoon Network recently conducted a ‘Chowder’ survey on www.cartoonnetworkindia.com to explore kids’ eating and cooking habits. Almost 900 kids responded to the survey from all over India including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Bangalore.

Key findings of Cartoon Network ‘Chowder’ survey:

- Cooking is no longer a girl’s thing as 68% of the kids surveyed feel that both boys and girls should learn cooking and 71% of the respondents were boys!

- Indian kids are experimental - 76% of the kids like tasting new food and dishes, 57% of the kids like to know more about food and dishes from all over the world

- Indian kids like Indian food the most! North Indian & South Indian food is the most loved: 31% for each

Bringing out their experimental spirit, 76% of Indian kids enjoy trying new food with 33% of Indian kids preferred going out to eat than eating at home and 57% of the respondents are keen to learn more about world cuisine. The survey also found that Indian kids love Indian cuisine the most and North Indian and South Indian food are the equal top raters in their choice!

Interestingly, cooking is no longer considered just a girls thing as 68% of kids believe that both boys and girls should learn how to cook and this sentiment becomes even more emphatic as 71% of the respondents to the survey were boys!
