Pearson has announced the acquisition of GlobalEnglish, the global provider of cloud-based, on-demand Business English Learning Software, through its corporate assessment arm Pearson TalentLens. Through this acquisition, Pearson will be offering this software product suite to businesses across India and enhance Business English skills of professionals to help them gain competitive advantage.
XLRI celebrates ‘Joy of Giving Week 2013’
XLRI Jamshedpur celebrated the ‘Joy of Giving Week 2012’ from October 2-8. XLRI’s student association, SIGMA, organised social and cultural events in the city of Jamshedpur. This year an amount R2,01,500 was generated for the education of tribal children managed by the Jamshedpur Tribal Fund.
ICFL launches StockMind, a contest for students
ICICIdirect Centre for Financial Learning (ICFL) has announced the launch of StockMind 2014, a nationwide contest aimed at college students enabling them to showcase their stock investment skills. ICFL aims at educating the youth on investing in the stock market through this initiative. In its first year of the launch, the initiative reached out to over 30,000 students and 250 colleges. StockMind 2014 expects even larger participation. “The event is aimed at today’s younger generation and provides an opportunity to learn investing while making the entire process interesting and interactive. We believe it will not only help students become better investors but also better professionals by sharpening their analytical, critical thinking, decision making and risk taking abilities,” said Vineet Arora, EVP and head of Product & Distribution, ICICI Securities Ltd.
Science Foundation Ireland-funded project to promote research and education in India
A new Science Foundation Ireland-funded programme, the International Strategic Cooperation Award (ISCA) that will promote Ireland’s research and education in science and technology in India, was announced on October 8 at a reception hosted in Trinity College Dublin. The Ambassador of India to Ireland, Radhika L Lokesh, as well as representatives from Irish education institutions were in attendance. Trinity College Dublin is leading the ISCA India Consortium under the direction of Trinity Dean of Research, Professor Vincent Cahill and Professor of Neurogenetics, Mani Ramaswami. Other Irish institutions involved are Cork Institute of Technology (CIT), Dublin City University (DCU), Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT), National
