BSNL plans to install 200 additional mobile towers, which the company will be sharing with other telecom service providers, BSNL General Manager (Maharashtra Circle) said Saturday.
The towers are likely to be set up in two months. Also in pipeline are 200 independent towers exclusively for BSNL mobile services.
At present, Maharashtra has around 900 BSNL mobile towers in addition to 1,200 towers, which the service provider shares with other telecom companies.
BSNL has written to higher authorities seeking standardisation of rates for laying telephone cables. “PMC and PCMC have different rates for laying telephone cables. We have requested the chief secretary to standardise rates,” Kulkarni added.
