Major losers from the Sensex pack were BHEL 15.00 per cent followed by SBI 10.28 per cent, L&T by 9.64 per cent, Coal India 8.02 per cent, ICICI Bank 7.31 per cent, Bajaj Auto 6.99 per cent, Tata Steel 6.62 per cent, RIL 6.29 per cent, ONGC 6.15 per cent, Axis Bank 6.12 per cent, Heromoto Corp 5.73 per cent, NTPC 5.67 per cent, M&M 5.35 per cent, Maruti 5.21 per cent, Tata Power 4.99 per cent, Hindalco 3.81 per cent, SSLT 3.77 per cent Gail India 2.05 percent.
However, the gainers were Sun Pharma 4.64 per cent, ITC 3.83 per cent, Infosys 2.68 per cent and HUL 2.65 per cent.
Among the S&P BSE sectoral indices, BSE-Power dropped by 10.16 per cent followed by Capital-Goods 9.98 per cent, Realty 9.18 per cent, PSU 8.97 per cent, CD 8.19 per cent, Metal by 7.36 per cent, Bankex by 7.17 per cent and OIl&Gas by 5.87 per cent. Small-cap and Mid-cap indices also fell by 7.80 per cent and 7.02 per cent, respectively.
Total market turnover on the BSE and the NSE spurted to Rs 21,240.48 crore and Rs 1,05,761.67 crore respectively from the last weekend's level of Rs 16,906.51 crore and Rs 89,279.00 crore.
