BSE Sensex edges lower amid choppy trade ahead of the start of the July-September blue-chip earnings season, with Infosys Ltd, set to declare its results Friday, followed by Reliance Industries Ltd on Monday.

BSE Sensex, India's benchmark index is down 0.3 percent, while the broader NSE Nifty index falls 0.15 percent.

Infosys Ltd shares are up 0.2 percent, while Reliance Industries (RIL) shares are down 0.4 percent.

Traders also remain largely cautious given the political standoff in the United States over its budget and debt ceiling.
