Chennai, November 17:: British Council has announced British Chevening Scholarships (BCS) 2009 for students to study in the UK for one year Masters degree or to attend a tailor made course in leadership in the London School of Economics.
The programme was funded by the British Foreign and Commonwealth office and managed by the British Council Chevening annual awards. Around 2,000 students across the world would get scholarship under this programme to study in the UK.
Under BCS, there were two kind of scholarships such as long-term scholarships and Chevening Gurukul Scholarship for Leadership and Excellence,a British Council release said.
Long-term scholarships offer exceptional Indian candidates the opportunity to undertake one-year masters study at leading universities in the UK. The scheme covers a wide range of disciplines like science and innovation, finance and public administration, economic governance and sustainable development.
Chevening Gurukul is a unique 12-week advanced leadership programme, created specifically for Indian students, by the London School of Economics and Political Science.Only 12 exceptional candidates from India would be selected for this programme.
This scheme was meant for working professionals, who have experience in their professional field and were looking for a short-term professional training programme to expand and consolidate their experience, knowledge and skills, it said.
