Brussels-Delhi Jet Airways flight lands at Amritsar

Amritsar:Jet Airways flight from Brussel to New Delhi had to land at Amritsar International Airport at 11:58 PM on Thursday after it failed to land in New Delhi due to inclement weather. The flight carrying 238 passengers and eight crew members took off for New Delhi at about 9 am on Friday. Jet Airways official, Amritsar, Manish Maru said the flight landed at Amritsar airport after “diversion” in the route due to inclement weather.

Dhumal demands diesel hike roll back

Shimla:Former BJP chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal Friday strongly criticised the hike in price of diesel and allowing the public sector oil firms to hike prices. He demanded that hike should be rolled back as it will have “cascading” effect on prices of other commodities. “People are already reeling under price rise. They expect relief, not burden,” he said. Dhumal said Congress had nothing to do with interests of the public and was only looking at the prospects of oil companies and capitalists.

Robbers kill night watchman

Amritsar:Robbers killed a chowkidar in Jeobala village in Tarn Taran district Thursday night while attempting robbery in as many as eight shops in the village, police said Friday. Tarn Taran Sadar SHO Onkar Singh said robbers attacked Chowkidar Gurnam Singh, inflicting injuries on his head and killing him. “The robbers had broken the shutters of about eight shops and most likely the chowkidar might have seen and confronted them before he was attacked,” SHO said.
