Madhopur-Beas link to remain closed
Chandigarh:The Madhopur-Beas Link (MB Link) canal will remain closed from October 15 for 23 days as work is under way for the protection of Abadi village and agricultural land on the both side of MB Link creek. The irrigation department said a notification in this regard has been issued. The decision to close the canal has been taken keeping in view the pleasing weather and after due regard to status of crops.
Ex-Cong MLA in TMC, to contest from Una
Shimla:Former Congress MLA O P Rattan on Sunday joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and will contest the Assembly elections from Una his home constituency and from where he was elected in 2003. Rattan was contender for the Congress ticket from Una but the national party chose new face face Satpal Raijada. The party has finalised its first list, which include Rattan and former state BSP president Baldev Singh, who has been fielded from Chintpurni in Una district. Other candidates include Pramod Sharma, a former congress leader contesting from Theog, Ram Swaroop (Kasauli), Sanjay Fanda (Haroli), Shakuntla Kashyap (Balh), Rangi Ram Bhati (Pacchad), Neelam Kumari ( Baijnath) and Rajeev Jamwal (Palampur).
