BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain on Tuesday said that his party is on a “Mission 272” to grab power at the Centre on its own, but has some surprises in store while taking along partners with it.

“The party is focussing on strengthening itself and is eyeing a majority. However, there are surprises in store when it comes to alliance partners the party will have and we will disclose it at an appropriate time,” he said, when asked why only a few former alliance partners are with the BJP.

The BJP leader said that the third front is not possible and the NCP, SP, BSP, JD are with the Congress.

Hussain said that Congress’ vice-president Rahul Gandhi have not been able to respond to various issues raised by BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

BJP’s general secretary Rajiv Pratap Rudy on Tuesday alleged that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar failed to avert the bomb blasts that took place in Patna during the rally of Modi.

“The Bihar government did not interrogate Indian Mujahideen co-founder Yasin Bhatkal, neither did it hand him over to other state police for interrogation. If the interrogation had been done properly then the blast could be averted,” he said.

Rudy further said that the union government’s decision to curtail the winter session to only nine days indicates that the Congress-led government has lost its mandate. Congress’ survival depends on SP, BSP and the government has lost its credibility.

He said that Narendra Modi will be in Mumbai in next month and the state unit is gearing up for the public rally.
