Only 12 per cent of executives around the world are highly effective at clarifying assumptions and only 10 per cent are highly effective in checking their understanding of a situation before moving on to addressing an issue, according to a survey.

The leaders risk operating on flawed assumptions and making decisions that won't reap the desired benefits, the report Development Dimensions International (DDI) said.

Frontline leaders are hardly any better with only 15 per cent highly effective at clarifying situations before acting on them, it said.

The report is taken from a meta-analysis of DDI's assessment data collected from nearly 4,000 leaders worldwide.
