Fast-track courts order jail for two for raping minors

Raiganj: A fast-track court in Raiganj in North Dinajpur district on Tuesday sentenced a 33-year-old to life imprisonment for raping an 18-month-old. The crime was committed last February. Another fast-track court in the district, meanwhile, sent a 25-year-old to seven years in jail for raping a 16-year-old girl in 2009.

New STF to stop harassment of women on Metro

Kolkata:Taking a cue from the recent incidents of sexual harassment of women on Metro, a Special Task Force has been put up by the RPF for the Metro Rail to nab offenders within the Metro premises. The squad will be headed by a woman assistant sub-inspector. Two helpline numbers — 9007041789 and 9007041908 — have been also started.
