The minister informed the House that, in 2005, the NPCIL had formed a site selection committee and had scouted for a site all over the country, including West Bengal.

"But I don't know if they have selected any site in West Bengal," the minister said.

Bhuinya later told IE that he had raised the question to expose the CPI(M)'s dichotomy over the Indo-US civilian nuclear deal.

"They want a nuclear power plant here, but are opposing the Indo-US nuclear deal that will make the power plant easier to happen," Bhuinya said....
