Kolkata, Nov 20: BBC World is planning to make a documentary on Sourav Ganguly, the most successful captain of the Indian cricket team who has just announced his retirement from international cricket.

The channel has requested Ganguly to spend sometime with them for the documentary, but they are yet to get the green signal from the Dada of Indian cricket.

According to a well-placed official of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), BBC has sought CAB's approval for shooting at the Eden Gardens for the 60-minute film.

"We must give BBC consent as Sourav is our pride. But, our feedback depends on the availability of Sourav," said Biswaroop Dey, joint secretary of the CAB. "I have been asked by BBC officials over the phone, we are waiting for written communication," Dey added.

"BBC has already started making the film. Someone from BBC interviewed me over phone. He has asked me a lot of questions about Sourav, and I answered accordingly," said Arun Mitra, another CAB joint secretary.

Although the channel insiders have declined to comment on the film, sources said BBC will focus on his family members, neighbours, friends on and off the cricketing arena and noted cricketers close to Sourav. The film will be made attractive by various clippings and stock shots.
