Barton in trademark battle down under
Hollywood actress Mischa Barton's attempt to trademark her name in Australia has been opposed by an accessories company down under.
The 23-year-old star wished to trademark her name, signature and logo down under but her attempt has been flouted by Queensland-based company Mischa Accessories, who have taken up a legal battle against her, as reported.
Lawyers for the firm have registered an objection with the IP Australia register, the agency that grants rights in patents and trade marks, in a move that could prevent Barton from safe-guarding her name.
The former 'OC' actress is not the only one to face such a problem in the country.
Singer Katy Perry had also faced a trademark battle with her Australian namesake Katie Perry, who runs a clothing line in the country.
The 'I Kissed a Girl' hitmaker's legal team took the designer to court in July this year over the right to use the name, but abandoned the case just an hour before it was due to be heard by a judge in Canberra, Australia.
