New Delhi: Barley futures prices extended gains and prices moved up further by 1.50 per cent on Friday on speculative buying, supported by firm trend in the spot markets.

At the NCDEX counter, barley for delivery in December contract gained another 1.50 per cent to Rs 1,067 per quintal after moving between Rs 1,067.80 and Rs 1,055. The contract recorded an open interest in 9,090 lots.

Marketmen said traders continued buying by speculators, tracking firming trend in the spot markets on better offtake by alcohol and cattle-feed makers, which influenced commodity prices in futures trade.
