Bajaj Auto Ltd on Friday reported a 15 per cent decline in two-wheeler sales in January at 1,67,592 units as against 1,97,553 units in the same month last year.
The company said motorcycle sales also declined by 15 per cent during the month at 1,66,492 units as against 1,95,560 units in January previous year.
Three-wheeler sales also witnessed a 23 per cent decline at 24,601 units, against 32,030 units in the same month last year.
It said overall exports during the month rose by 9 per cent to 43,533 units, the same stood at 39,812 units in the corresponding month a year ago.
Exports are expected to continue at the current rate of 40 per cent; some export sales were deferred from January-February 08 owing to logistics issues, it said.
BAL said its 125 cc + motorcycle segment continued to grow claiming a 55 per cent market share in the third quarter of FY08.
In the 10-months period between April-January FY08, the company’s total two-wheeler sales declined by 10 per cent at 1,846,083 units as compared to 2,056,194 units in the year ago period.
Bikes sales during the period under review dipped by 10 per cent at 1,826,674 units as against 2,039,214 units in the corresponding period previous year.
