



New Delhi, March 10: Bajaj Auto expects to gain control of Maharashtra Scooters Ltd (MSL) by end-June, chairman Rahul Bajaj said on Thursday.
Arvind Sawant, a retired judge of the Kerala High court, has been appointed as arbitrator and he will decide the sales price by May, he added. However, a merger between the two companies is unlikely after Bajaj completes the acquisiton, he indicated.
Bajaj Auto, which has a 25% stake in Maharashtra Scooters, is looking at buying an additional 27% to acquire management control of the latter. Maharashrta Scooters currently has a capacity of 150,000 units.
This will take Bajaj Auto’s total capacity of 25.2 lakh units to 26.7 lakh units and should result in gains from integration of operations / synergies, analysts said.
