At SSKM, patients protest for good food
“Only vegetables are being provided to the patients. But according to rules hospital should provide fish, meat and eggs too in a week. Why will our patients debarred from their rights? We will continue our agitation if the hospital authorities fail to address the issue,” said a relative of a patient taking part in the protest.
For that past three months, patients allege that they are not getting adequate meal. Even complaints have been levelled against the hospital for providing stale food to the patient.
Sources within the hospital said that some patients were agitated after they were provided some half boiled vegetables during the lunch. It has been learnt that a private vendor, which supplies food to the hospital, is not being paid regularly by the hospital authorities.
Tamal Ghosh, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, said they are looking into the patients’ complaints.
