



Noida: Birlasoft (India) Ltd, the IT services arm of the $ 1.7-billion C K Birla Group, has announced the appointment of Mr. Arup Gupta as the Chief Executive Officer of the Company.
He will take over his new assignment on August 1, 2009.
A seasoned IT professional, Mr. Gupta brings with him over 30 years of experience. He has most recently been the President & Executive Director of Polaris and was responsible for all operations, delivery and sales. Prior to Polaris, Mr. Gupta had been with TCS since 1979 and was President, North America, in his last assignment there. He was credited with a five-fold growth in a five-year time span in the US.
Birlasoft Chairman, Ms. Amita Birla, stated, “Birlasoft is a dynamic organization. I am confident that Arup, with his experience and commitment, will channelize this energy in the right manner and enable Birlasoft to scale new heights. We wish him all the success in his new role in Birlasoft.”
Mr. Gupta opined, “These are challenging times for global business, particularly the IT industry. However, I am sure that given its established intellectual capital, proven delivery capability, customer centricity and top-rung talent, Birlasoft will be able to reach new levels of growth.”
Mr. Gupta replaces Mr. J. Ramachandran, who has decided to move on for personal reasons. “Ram has been instrumental in helping steer Birlasoft through the difficult times of the global recession and in streamlining operations. We wish him the very best for the future,” Ms. Birla commented.
