New Delhi: India's vegetable oil imports in April rose 101 per cent from a year earlier to 699,396 tonnes, a leading trade body said on Wednesday.
Imports in the first half of oil year from November were at 4.3 million tonnes, up from from 2.6 million tonnes in the year-ago period, data released by the Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA) showed.
Traders had expected edible oil imports to double in April from a year ago due to a friendlier tax regime.
