: Since the days of ‘Genesis’, the ‘Apple’ has this aura of enamour and mystique attached to it. And it’s rather blooming despite enduring that forbidden bite!

Apple has its own faithful followers, they love it and swear by it, and the others hate it!

‘Apple’ also has this uncanny knack of nipping the competition (as if they have any) in one swift move. And they did exactly that again by carving this ‘MacBook Pro’ from a solid block of aluminum for its avid fanboys. Though you can’t compare Apple with oranges, but still one look at the specifications and you will know what I mean!

An Intel Core 2 Duo processor at 2.53GHz (2.8GHz optional) with 3MB shared L2 cache, 4 Gb of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM (supports up to 8GB), 250GB (500GB optional) Serial ATA hard drive, 8X-slot loading super drive with double-layer support, 15.4inch (1440 X 900 native resolution) LED backlit glossy widescreen display, dual graphic support NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated (NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT discrete graphic with 512MB of DDR3 memory, optional), full size backlit keyboard, trackpad with support for multi-touch gestures, built-in wi-fi, bluetooth and ethernet, battery power of seven hours and much more packed in a 2.41 X 36.4 X 24.9cm uniblock chassis weighing mere 2.49 kg.

But first thing first, the uniblock aluminum body design with tapered sides and rounded corners give it a very posh, sleek and sturdy feel. The white chomped Apple logo on the top looks, what to say… Very enviable!

On the front it has a nicely carved thumbscoop to lift the lid, a sleep mode indicator light and an IR port. On the right side it has the SuperDrive slot and a notch for the Kensington cable security lock. All the connector ports (a magnetic power Connector slot, an Ethernet port, FireWire port, Mini Display port, two USB2 ports, SD card slot, 3.5mm audio-in and audio-out ports and battery power indicator lights) are logically on the left side of the MacBook. But these ports are cramped together, especially the USB ports! They are too close to one another, not suitable for many pen drives or cables with large heads.

As you open the MacBook, you are mesmerised by the gleaming LED backlit widescreen (16:10) display panel in a glossy finish. The energy efficient display is amazingly bright and sharp. The colours reproduced on this very thin LCD panel are spectacular and unfeigned....
