APGENCO has completed renovation and modernisation (R&M) works of all three stations at Kothagudem thermal power station (KTPS) with a total expenditure of about Rs 600 crore financed by the Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund of Japan.
The three stations - station A of 4 units of 60 MW, station B of 2 units of 110 MW and station C of 2 units of 110 MW - were established from 1966 to 1978 and were in continuous operations. APSEB decided to take up modernisation and life extension works to enhance the life of the units by another 20 years with improved operating parameters.
About Rs 150 crore was utilised for A station and the remaining Rs 450 crore on B&C stations. The units take about six months for stabilisation and have so far generated 15.98 MU which is the highest ever daily generation since inception, a release said.
