



Hyderabad, Nov 1: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on Monday announced that the government has decided to set up the `State human rights commission' shortly. The State already has a state-level human rights committee chaired by a retired high court judge.
Speaking on the occassion of the 48th AP Formation Day celebrations, Dr Reddy said that development is possible only in a peaceful atmosphere and hence the government has initiated talks with the naxalites. "We will continue talks till peace is established in the State," he said.
The Chief Minister said that the government plans to link villages with urban habitations with `rural roads' covering a road length of about 2,500 kms. The project will be funded through Nabard financing about Rs 200 crore, he said.
Dr Reddy said that the government is reviewing the proposal to extend large-scale incentives to attract investment into the State. The government plans to offer low tariffs for industrial power. The new industrial policy encourages investments to all the regions and help in removing the regional imbalances, he pointed out.
Further, the Chief Minister said that his government is striving to move up the ladder from the current 5th poistion to 3rd in the IT industry nationally, in the next three years. The government is working out a `single window system' to extend approvals for setting up new IT projects in the State, he said.
Dr Reddy claimed that the new initiative `Rajiv Internet Village' is progressing as per schedule. Further, the government intends to improve promptness of the service delivery using Internet connectivity to villages, he said.
