Hyderabad, Feb 7: The cement industry anticipates a sharp rise in prices in Andhra Pradesh as the demand for the commodity is growing day by day.
Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Rajiv Kumar, senior marketing manager, Associate Cement Companies (ACC), said that price per bag is expected to increase by Rs 10 to Rs 15 in the next couple of weeks.
"Demand emnating from the irrigation projects is yet to pick up and the same is expected in the next one month. Hopefully, by then the prices will move up," Mr Kumar said.
Saying that the cement prices have not increased for some time in the state, he felt any raise in the prices will be legitimate. As of now, cement is sold at Rs 140 per bag in Hyderabad while it is sold at Rs 150 in Rayalaseema and coastal districts and in Telangana it is sold at Rs 130 per bag.
In a bid to educate the customer, ACC has initiated one-stop-solution offering construction estimate at their retail outlets in the state.
Initially, the company has opened five such outlets where the customer can obtain construction estimates free of cost, Mr Kumar said.
Besides, the company also proposes to organise training classes to those customers who wanted to supervise the construction on their own. "This service will be offered at a price of Rs 200 per person for a six-hour session," Mr Kumar said. The training will be provided by the consultants identified by the company, he added.
