Annashri Yojana to take off on December 15
The scheme will facilitate the transfer of cash benefit directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries using an Aadhar-enabled no-frills bank account, which can be accessed only by the senior-most woman member of the vulnerable household.
“The government has facilitated opening of such accounts upon presentation of a copy of the Aadhar card. Hence, there would be no need to submit an address proof and have a proposer for opening the account. The government intends to bring all its social sector financial assistance schemes under the ambit of direct cash transfer based on UID Aadhar,” a senior official said.
