Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government has created a separate promotional agency and a single window system, to enable the state to achieve the number two position in the overall national information technology (IT) and IT enabled services (ITES) exports in the next three years.
Addressing a gathering after inaugurating ‘Cyber Pearl,’ the first IT complex promoted by L&T Infocity-Ascendas Ltd (LTIAL), a 50:50 joint venture between Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Singapore-based Ascendas, the Andhra Pradesh (AP) Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy said the state is committed to promote the IT and ITES sector in a big way, and wants to make AP as number two state in India in the next three years.
As a step towards making AP the best destination, the state government recently set up a separate promotional agency and also introduced a single window system exclusively for the IT/ITES sectors. In addition to that, it has set up three different committees on human resources, infrastructure and policy initiatives, to bring out a suitable policy towards achieving the goal.
He also said that the government is inviting all the major builders in the country to take up infrastructure projects in the state to create a knowledge hub as well as town planning in Hyderabad. The government is planning 22 model townships covering the twin cities and make Hyderabad as the model for other states to follow, Dr Reddy added. He asked the minister in Singapore Prime Minister’s office, Lim Boon Heng to use his good offices to bring major investments into the state as well as help develop major infrastructure projects.
Earlier, addressing the gathering, president and chief executive officer of Ascendas and vice-chairman of LTIAL, Chong Siak Ching, said that Cyber Pearl is the first project of the company.
