Amway traffic initiative during Durga Puja

Guwahati police has joined hands with Amway India, the country's largest direct selling company for a "Road Safety Awareness Campaign" for Durga Puja in the city.

The campaign seeks to sensitize the people of the city, specially students about the importance of adhering to road safety rules and traffic signals to avoid accidents. Briefing reporters, Guwahati SP Traffic Bibekananda Das and Bickramjit Paul, Area Manager, North East Amway India, said posters, signage and hoardings with pictorial illustrations, a set of information and instructions will be put up in the city.

The campaign will also comprise five hundred signages across the city with themes 'Drive with care, 'Don't drink and drive' and 'Use helmet'.

The campaign also aims at driving awareness about importance of safe driving and mobile safety etiquette among youngsters, they said.

The Guwahati traffic police department in collaboration with Amway has already brought few schools under the purview of the campaign.

Das said in 2011 out of 6569 accidents in Assam in which 2342 people died and 6506 injured, Guwahati accounted for 1085 accidents in which 296 had died while 886 injured.

The all-India figure in 2011 was 497686 accidents in which 142488 people had died and 511594 were injured, he added.

when i don't ware helmet but do not drink. so kolkata traffic police which action take me ?
