Amreli to get state’s third LNG terminal
This agreement was among the eight prominent MoUs worth over Rs 35,000 crore that were signed at a seminar organised for the ports sector, Gujarat Maritime Board officials said.
The state already has two of the country’s three operational LNG terminals at Dahej and Hazira.
In the 2011 VGGIS, GVK Power and Infrastructure Ltd had signed an MoU to invest Rs 7,000 crore to develop an LNG terminal along with a private coal terminal and maritime city at Okhamadhi.
The country’s largest private shipbuilder ABG shipyard also signed a similar MoU to invest Rs 7,000 crore for setting up a new greenfield shipbuilding yard in three phases in Gujarat.
Cargo motors Pvt Ltd along with an Israeli company will be setting up a greenfield port at Nargol, Valsad district of south Gujarat.
Essar Bulk Terminal Ltd is expanding its captive facility at Salaya while Adani Petronet Port Pvt Ltd signed an MoU to expand its facilities at Dahej. Gujarat Chemical Port Terminal Company will expand its existing port terminal by creating a second jetty at Dahej. Hazira LNG Pvt Ltd and Denmark-based DHI (India) Water and Environment Pvt Ltd were some of the other companies who signed MoUs on the first day.
