Almond prices rose by Rs 200 per 40 kg bag in the national capital today largely due to fall in supplies from overseas markets.

Pick-up in buying activity also supported the rise in prices.

Almond (California) prices rose by Rs 200 to Rs 12,500 per 40 kg and its kernel also moved up to Rs 430-450 from previous close of Rs 420-440 per kg, respectively.

Marketmen said apart from restricted supplies from overseas markets, increased demand from stockists and retailers led to a rise in almond prices.

The following are today's quotations (per 40 kg): Almond (California) Rs 12,500 Almond (Gurbandi-new) Rs 7,000-8,000; Almond (Girdhi) Rs 3,200-3,500; Abjosh Afghani Rs 7,000-18,000.
