Wester won't yet say which U.S. dealers will sell Alfas, or how customers can order them. Alfa's owners, Fiat and Chrysler, will release more details next month.

Wester calls the 4C an ''affordable supercar.'' It's hand made in Italy and has a 1.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 240 horsepower.

The 4C will start around $54,000.

Wester made the comments Wednesday at the New York auto show, where Alfa is displaying the 4C.
