Did you anticipate that Boss would do exceedingly well in UP and Bihar and do you believe the film will cross the ` 100 crore mark?
Answering the first part, no! Since Akshay Kumarís character speaks in Haryanvi, the producers and I thought that Boss would do very well in Haryana, but surprisingly it is in UP and Bihar that people are going berserk over the film.
I donít know about it collecting Rs. 100 crore but in territories like Maharashtra, the film is doing very good business in the single screens. We are hoping that it will pick up in the multiplexes too. Frankly, one does not think of business when making a film. You make it hoping that it will be received well. I am happy that Boss is being appreciated and considering it was made on a modest budget of around Rs. 55 crore, itís a safe film.
What has the response to the film been and what are people liking about the film?
All those who have seen Boss are saying that Akshay Kumar is the highlight of the film. They are bowled over by the action sequences; like Akshayís car stunt in the title track, the parkour sequence and his hand-to-hand combat with Ronit Roy in the climax. They have also commented that heís looking fresh and his dialogues Ďapne ko toh pani nikalna haií and Ďbeech mein mat bolí have caught on big time. Roy, in his negative avatar, has been appreciated. I remember, he didnít have any qualms about doing the negative character, but his only apprehension was whether he would be able to pull it off. The audience has also been hooting for Aditi Rao Hydari for her bikini sequence!
Who conceived the idea of the boxing bag and the human rocking chair sequences? Both were hilarious.
Producer Ashwin Varde, writers Sajid-Farhad and I were brainstorming and thinking of ways to dispose off the character, Bajrang when the writers thought of stuffing him inside a punching bag. For the human rocking chair also I would give maximum credit to my writers.
