Akhilesh possible CM: SP leader

The SP leadership on Friday indicated that it was considering Akhilesh Yadav as its chief ministerial candidate.

SP leader and member of the party’s apex decision making body Ram Gopal Yadav said, “I would personally be very happy if Akhilesh is given the position of CM when the SP forms the government...Akhilesh has put in a lot of hard work into the party’s election campaign... he must be rewarded for it.”

His statement holds significance, as this is the first time that any member of party’s top leadership has projected Akhilesh as the CM candidate even as party chief and three-time CM Mulayam Singh Yadav has maintained an ambiguity on the question.

Most party leaders have been maintaining that Mulayam would be the party’s natural choice for the post. Even Akhilesh has said that Mulayam will be the chief minister in case the SP forms the government in UP.

BJP on revival path: Gadkari

Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar’s vocal opposition to the proposed Food Security Bill on Friday found support from BJP president Nitin Gadkari. “I agree with Sharad Pawar’s opposition..
