Darjeeling: A driver was arrested after one AK-47 rifle and a pistol were seized from his car at Rambi near here on Tuesday. The vehicle was going to Gangtok from Siliguri, police said. An AK-47 rifle which was concealed in its trunk, a 9 mm pistol and Rs 1.05 lakh were seized from the car. When the vehicle tried to escape, police chased it and caught the driver.

Gang of ATM money stealers held

Jhargram: A gang of six men allegedly involved in fraudulent withdrawal of money from bank ATMs using fake cards were arrested from a jungle, about 25 km from Jhargram, in West Midnaporre district on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided the jungle located between Balibhasa and Beltola villages along the NH-6 and nabbed the six men, who used to operate in Jharkhand, Orissa and Bengal, said SP Bharati Ghosh said. The gangsters were arrested when they were resting in the jungle on their way from Dhanbad.
