Although Priyanka Chopra made a dramatic entry on the stage sitting on a swing, the actor struck an emotional chord as she paid homage to the celebrities who passed away last year. Beginning on a sombre note, she transformed the mood with her witty take on celebrity marriages. The stage was taken over by saffron-clad pandits who chanted mantras around a havan, as pictures of Vidya Balan-Sidharth Roy Kapur; Kareena Kapoor-Saif Ali Khan and Genelia D'Souza-Riteish Deshmukh flashed on the screen in the background. While Chopra danced to Salaam-e-ishq , she was coaxed by the pandits to tie the knot. The actor beat a hasty retreat from the stage as she claimed that she was too young for marriage.

Instead, she preferred to shake a leg on the latest tunes from the films of debutantes like Ayushmann Khurrana, Arjun Kapoor who made a mark in the industry. Chopra’s act concluded with the actor making an exit on a huge Ganesha trunk suspended in mid-air as she swayed to the tunes of Deva shree Ganesha from Agneepath, showering the audience below with glitter.

Apart from her glamarous performance, her candid repartees with the host Shah Rukh Khan surprised the audience as she brought up some controversial issues surrounding the superstar. The guests were in splits when Chopra said that main toh kabhi apne friend ke spouse ko thappad nahi marti, referring to the Shirish Kunder controversy.
