AIADA eyes 200 acres in Seraikela for expansion

The Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority (AIADA), Jharkhand's biggest industrial area that has reached saturation in terms of space, has identified 200 acres near Seraikela, 15 km from its Gamharia periphery, for expansion.

Spread over 3,000 acres, the AIADA, which now houses around 700 big, medium and small units, is not in a position to allot land to several investors who are willing to set up projects there.

"We have located 200 acres of pure government land in front of the archery academy near Seraikela," Nitin Madan Kulkarni, managing director of the AIADA, told FE on Tuesday. Since the government owns the land, there would not be any acquisition-related problems, he said.

The AIADA has its submitted the proposal to the deputy commissioner of Seraikela-Kharswan district. It will now be sent to the relevant government departments in Ranchi.

Hit by acute scarcity of land, the development authority had some time ago identified 250 acres of government land in Baharogora, 85 km from here, for expansion.

The AIADA, which has already surveyed the land, has found it suitable for industrial purposes. Kulkarni has requested the East Singhbhum deputy commissioner to start the process of getting the land transferred to it. The land, located between NH 6 and the river Subarnarekha, could thus become an AIADA-owned "satellite industrial area", ideal for industries needing port services of Haldia/Paradip.
