Agonda and Radhanagar beachs named best in India

The Agonda beach in Goa, also known as the silent beach, tops the list of favourite Indian beaches followed by Radhanagar beach in Andaman & Nicobar as Goa reiterates its position as the beach capital of the country with 12 of the top 25 beaches coming from the state.

According to TripAdvisor, this year travellers went beyond Goa to include blissful stretches of sand and surf and coconut-lined waterfronts from across the country including the Muzhappilangad in Kerala, India's only drive in beach. This year, beaches from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu made their debut on the travel site's Travellers' Choice list.

Based entirely on reviews and ratings from millions of TripAdvisor travellers, the awards recognisd favourite beaches of travellers in India and around the world. The list also included 276 winning beaches across 40 countries.

The winning beaches of 2013 in India are:

12. Ganapatipule Beach, Maharashtra

13. Tarkarli Beach, Maharashtra

14. Morjim, Goa

15. Yarada Beach, Andhra Pradesh

16. Cansaulim Beach, Goa

17. Utorda Beach, Goa

18. Palolem Beach, Goa

19. Muzhappilangad Drive-in Beach, Kerala

20. Dhanushkodi Beach,Tamil Nadu
