Facebook has redesigned its browser-based web chat days after it did the same for its iPhone app.
The revamped Facebook chat window displays all your friends online, even those who are logged in on their mobile. Unlike the older version, the new chat window shows users mobile or web written instead of conventional icons. The feature will not only enable users to know who is 'online on what' but also offers file sharing at a faster pace.
The social networking website 'Facebook' will now tell you whether your friend is online to chat from the web or from the mobile. It will also tell you if he or she is currently active or not. The green dot or the mobile icon that always denoted if the person was online or not, their status will now appear in words alongside with their name.
'Web' of course will mean that the person is currently on desktop and 'Mobile, definitely, will mean that he or she is currently using Facebook Messenger or chat application on their mobile phones. You probably just missed speaking to them, if nothing appears besides the name. Though they’re now offline but a mobile icon will appear to update you about their last login, just as in whatsapp's 'last seen at...'.
The new interface is still in testing mode.
Incidentally, the graphic search feature has still not been rolled out to most users in India.
