Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday filed a defamation case against Media Sarkar,  a news portal which conducted a sting operation showing some AAP candidates accepting funds allegedly through illegal means.

AAP had termed the video as "doctored" and "part of a political conspiracy".

Filing the defamation case, Kejriwal's party also submitted the CDs containing evidence before court of Justice M M Akash Jain. The judge said that he will consider the complaint, scheduleding the matter for hearing on January 25, next year.

The CDs contained details given by Media Sarkar to the Election  Commission and the one showing the editing done by Media Sarkar.

The sting operation alleged that several AAP leaders, who were contacted for their help in helping recover money from some individuals and getting through some controversial land deals, readily agreed to extend their support in return for donations in cash to the party.

Following the sting, the AAP leaders met Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath asking him to stop the circulation of the CD saying it was a violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

The CEO of Media Sarkar, in a written complaint against AAP, also alleged that he was getting threatening calls from its activists.
