A peek at Mughal way of life in Humayun’s Tomb
A group of two hundred students accompanied by ten teachers and an experienced guide toured the complex around the tomb, observing the marvels of Mughal architecture in white and black marble, and sandstone.The intricate designs and carvings on the walls had their own stories to tell. They brought alive history to the students. Other attractions within the complex included Bu Halima’s Tomb and garden, Nila Gumbad and the Char Bagh. The Humayun’s Tomb, houses 160 other graves along with that of the Emperor Humayun, his wife Hamida Banu Begam and the architect Mirak Mirza Ghiyath. The trip was fun and informative.

It was a pleasure to visit the resting place of one of the most celebrated Mughal emperors, Humayun, in Nizamuddin. It was commissioned to be built by his wife Hamida Banu Begum and build by a Persian architect Mirak Mirza Ghiyath. The work on the tomb started in 1565 and took seven years to complete — till 1672. Till then, Humayun was buried at Purana Qila.The Taj Mahal bears a striking resemblance to Humayun’s Tomb.
