Brushing aside reports of differences between 'third front' partners, JD(S) chief H D Deve Gowda on Monday said no one can prevent the emergence of a political "force" against Congress and BJP.

Gowda said he is closely watching the situation in the country and political compulsions will create a "force" against the Congress and BJP.

"A force will definitely emerge against Congress and BJP in the country. Some parties will join the force before the Lok Sabha elections. And some may choose to join it after the polls," he said.

"This is the true picture of present day's politics," he said in an interview.

There were no differences of opinion among the partners of the third force as reported in the media, Gowda said adding that "we are all united."

"There were some problems regarding Ajit Singh's RLD. BSP supremo Mayawati has her own reasons not to accommodate others. Still, we will persuade her and sort out all the problems," he said.

On the leadership issue in the third front, Gowda said his party does not have any problem with either the Left or the BSP leading the combine.

"For me, personally, there is no problem. I have already said Mayawati can lead the formation," he said.

Asked whether he supports Mayawati as Prime Ministerial candidate, he said, "I have already said that she can become Prime Minister if people's blessings are with her. I will never go back on my stand."

Gowda said the third front will campaign against the UPA government's failure on all sectors and reach out to like-minded parties to join it against Congress and BJP.

"Not only me, Left parties and others who are with us will reach out to the like-minded parties and persuade them to join the force," he said.

To a question, he said the Indo-US nuclear deal, poverty, unemployment, price rise and inflation will be the main election issues for the third front.

Asked whether he had invited AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa to join the third front, Gowda said "I have not met or spoken to Jayalalithaa about it. All political parties will have their own agenda."

In the case of AIADMK, he said its opposition DMK is in Congress' front and it will decide which front to join. "But my relationship with Jayalalithaa has not been strained," he said.

Gowda said he was looking for an electoral understanding with JD(S), Left parties and BSP in Karnataka during the Lok Sabha polls.

"A 'force' will definitely emerge against Cong and BJP" ... and whether Mr Deve Gowda's party will join forces with either one of them will depend on a condition that he will be the back stage operator of the govt. and his political likes and dislikes in terms of men in the Cong. or the BJP and positions to be surrendered in favour of his son. That 'force' will be held in suspense re: his own options to conditionally 'support' one of the three blocs until it is know how powerful that force emerges. .. but yes, it is high time the people ponder a little and see if they should encourage any question of blocs being formed which have no ideological scruples to do horse trading merely in the interest of leaders' personal and party's interests.
